DNA and Genetic testing, Feline Health & Genetic Integrity:
Why it matters to us?
01
At Bindi Dolls Cattery, we are committed to upholding ethical and responsible breeding practices with genetic soundness being our highest priority. We ensure our kittens are bred to the correct standards and proudly adhere to the testing Requirements, Policies and Guidelines of the ACF (Australian Cat Federation).
Our breeding cats (Sires & Dams) undergo thorough DNA testing for breed specific genetic conditions such as PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease), ALPS (Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome)
and the Scottish Fold testing requirements.
No cat that tests positive for any known hereditary condition is ever used in our breeding program. Screening is preformed through Orivet Australia, UC DAVIS USA and Langford Vets - University of Bristol UK (Where applicable to the Breed). Results can be supplied to owners upon request.
We carefully select our breeding pairs with health, temperament, and the future of the breed in mind, to breed forth the healthiest kittens we possibly can.
We’re always happy to share and discuss more about our carefully planned and thoughtfully selected Scottish Fold program. Our approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the Scottish Fold breed, including their unique characteristics, welfare considerations, and the laws, regulations and protocols that govern responsible breeding. We strive to contribute to the thoughtful preservation and healthy future of the breed.

The Importance of Desexing
02

At Bindi Dolls, all pet kittens are desexed by a licensed veterinarian before departure, once they reach a suitable age and healthy weight. Feline Desexing is a mandatory requirement in the state of NSW. We comply with all applicable animal welfare and pet registration laws to ensure our kittens are desexed and registered before leaving for their forever homes. Desexing is NON-NEGOTIABLE at Bindi Dolls Cattery. Early desexing supports the long-term health of your kitten by reducing the risk of certain reproductive diseases and infections, while also providing behavioural benefits. It prevents unplanned litters, supports responsible population management and ensures breeding is carefully managed by appropriate, Ethical Registered Breeders.

The Importance of Veterinary care, Vaccination and Worming Schedules
At Bindi Dolls, we believe the health and wellbeing of every cat from birth through to kittenhood is fundamental.
Our kittens receive proper Veterinary care, health checks and age appropriate Vaccinations before leaving for their new homes, with their health carefully monitored throughout their early development. This plays an important role in giving each kitten the healthiest possible start. During their veterinary visits, our kittens undergo a thorough routine health examination. Their temperature and weight are recorded, along with an examination of their eyes, ears, mouth, heart, abdomen, limbs, and joints. All of our kittens are also microchipped by a licensed veterinarian.
We ensure our kittens receive two F3 vaccinations at our trusted veterinary clinic, as well as age-appropriate worming and flea treatments using trusted, veterinarian recommended products.
We encourage all new families to continue their kitten’s vaccination schedule and maintain regular veterinary check ups once they come home. Ongoing preventative care helps protect your kitten and supports a long, happy and healthy life.

Official Pedigree Certificate with CATSNSW
Why is a Pedigree Certificate so important?
How do I know if my kitten is Purebred? Who are the Parents?
01
At Bindi Dolls Cattery, we are proudly registered and licensed breeders with CATSNSW Inc, affiliated with the Australian Cat Federation (ACF). Every kitten born in our cattery comes with an Official Pedigree Certificate, their birth certificate, which verifies their purebred status.
Your kitten's Pedigree Certificate includes their Registered name, date of birth, parents, grandparents, and multiple generations of their lineage. It's a wonderful way to learn about your kitten's heritage and the carefully selected bloodlines behind them.
We are also proud to introduce the parents of every litter. Our sires and dams are regularly featured on our social media pages, where you can get to know them, see their personalities, and follow their journey as part of the Bindi Dolls family.
Our kittens will also come to you fully registered with the NSW Pet Registry and Microchipped by a licensed veterinarian. Transfer of ownership will take place before your kittens arrival.

Contract of Agreement & Sale
01
Every Kitten who leaves Bindi Dolls cattery comes with a comprehensive Contract of Agreement & Sale that clearly outlines the kitten’s details, inclusions, health guarantees, and the responsibilities and obligations of both the breeder and new owner.
This Agreement ensures that both parties have a clear understanding of what is included with your kitten, and the care and welfare standards expected. We are committed to protecting the wellbeing of our kittens while also providing new owners with reassurance and peace of mind.
Why is it important for us to get to know our prospective kitten owners and families?
02

Our kittens mean the world to us, from the moment they are born, they are surrounded by love, care, and plenty of attention. We take great pride in raising each of our babies with the love and dedication they deserve. Finding them the perfect forever home is incredibly important to us, and we only place our babies in the very best homes, where we know they will be cherished just as much as they are with us. Before any adoption, we also like to get to know our prospective families. We'll ask you to tell us a little about yourself, your home environment and lifestyle, any previous experience with pets, your current animals, and any special requirements. This helps us ensure each kitten is matched in the most suitable home, where they can thrive for a lifetime. Our goal is not just to find our kittens a home but to find them the right home. It is equally as important that you get to know us too! So upon enquiries please remember to introduce yourself, share your name and tell us all about you and what type of home you can offer one of our precious babies. Feel free to ask us lots of questions about the breed, the kittens personalities, routines and their parents, we are always happy to help! Our hope is to help find a loving furry companion to join you, and your household.

Can we meet our kitten? Do you provide updates and photos?
01
We understand how important it is for prospective families to feel comfortable and confident when choosing their new kitten and we’re more than happy for you to get to know us and your new little furbaby.
Bindi Dolls is a Closed Cattery, we don’t have visitors coming into our home. Our Closed Cattery policy helps us maintain appropriate hygiene and quarantine practices in our cattery as well as helping us protect the health and safety of our cats, especially our newborns and unvaccinated kittens, nursing and pregnant queens, while also respecting the privacy and safety of our family.
We’re always pleased to offer and arrange FaceTime or a video call so you can see your kitten live and meet us, and we’re more than happy to send through extra photos and videos to new owners. We are also available by phone to answer any questions you may have and discuss our kittens with you.
We are always happy to meet with families in person for kitten collection in a suitable arranged public setting within Sydney, and delivery may also be available where possible. Further details can be discussed during the enquiry process.
Our policies are in place to ensure the highest standard of care and wellbeing for our cats and kittens. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for respecting our home, privacy and the health of our precious babies.
Photo, Videos and Kitten updates for owners
We believe you should be part of your kitten’s journey from the very beginning. Throughout the weeks, we’ll provide regular photos, videos and updates, allowing you to watch your little one grow and develop.
We’ll share those special milestones along the way, including weighing sessions, feeding and playtime, vet visits, new experiences and all the little moments in between.
These early weeks pass so quickly, and we love capturing these precious memories so you can enjoy watching your kitten grow before they come home to you.

Can kittens be transported to us interstate?
Yes, we can assist with Australia Wide Kitten Transport. We can arrange travel on your behalf, with quotes obtained for your convenience. Flights are generally available to all Australian States and Territories and are a quick, safe and easy option for interstate transport. Our kittens will receive a veterinary health check and be cleared as fit to travel before departure.
Our priority is to ensure your kitten is transported safely and securely. We generally rely on trusted Pet transport companies such as Departure Pets
02
When will our kitten be ready to come home?
03
Our kittens are ready to leave for their forever homes from 12 weeks of age, once they have completed all of their veterinary care and reached the important developmental milestones needed for a healthy start in life. Keeping our kittens with their mother cat and littermates for the first 3 months of life allows them to develop important social skills, play time skills and confidence. Learning to confidently use their litter tray, wean off mum and begin solids is necessary to ensure they are accustomed and ready to join their forever families.

Frequently Asked Questions
© Bindi Dolls Cattery | All Rights Reserved
Is it better to adopt a Male or a Female kitten?
01
This is one of the most common questions we receive, but the answer is simple neither gender is inherently better.
A kitten's personality, genetics, early socialisation, and proper desexing all play a far greater role than whether they are male or female. Once desexed, both males and females grow into loving, gentle, and affectionate companions.
Every kitten is an individual with their own unique personality. Rather than choosing based on gender, we encourage families to find the kitten whose temperament and character best suit their home and lifestyle.
How to Introduce Your New Kitten to Your Existing Pet?
02
Introducing Your New Kitten to Your Existing Pet. Should I get my Cat or Dog a Companion?
Bringing home a Scottish or British kitten is an exciting time for the whole family. Scottish and British Shorthairs are known for their calm, gentle and adaptable natures, making them well suited to multi pet homes with other cats and friendly cat-compatible dog breeds. With a gradual introduction, positive interactions, respectful boundaries,
and appropriate supervision, Scottish and British cats can form positive and harmonious relationships with other pets.
Personality Matters Most
Before introducing a new kitten, consider your existing pet’s personality.
Are they confident or timid? Social or shy? Have they previously lived with or interacted positively with other cats or dogs?
We want to help you find the right match. We would love to learn more about your home, lifestyle, and existing pets so we can recommend a kitten whose temperament is best suited to your situation.
We are always honest and transparent about each kitten’s individual personality, helping you make a confident and informed decision when choosing the right companion for your home.
Introduce pets gradually and under supervision.
Start Slowly:

© Bindi Dolls Cattery | All Rights Reserved
Give your new kitten a quiet, private space to settle before introducing them to your existing pet. Initially, keep them in separate rooms with everything they need, including food, fresh water, a litter tray, toys, and a comfortable bed.
This allows your kitten to feel safe and secure while gradually adjusting to their new surroundings.
Introduce Scents:

Allow them to become familiar with each other’s scent before face-to-face introductions. Exchanging blankets or bedding between the kitten and your existing cat/dog is a great way for them to become familiar with each other’s smell.

Supervised Interactions:
© Bindi Dolls Cattery | All Rights Reserved
Keep initial meetings short, calm, and supervised, allowing each pet to approach at their own pace. Never Force Interaction. Forcing contact can create stress or fear and may negatively affect their relationship. Patience and positive, gradual introductions are key to building trust. Increase time together gradually, and remember to be patient, let your pets adjust naturally, without rushing the process.
Some cats become comfortable within days while others may need several weeks or months.

Create Safe Spaces:
© Bindi Dolls Cattery | All Rights Reserved
Ensure your new kitten has areas where they can retreat, by providing them with separate resources like litter boxes, food, toys and hiding areas so they can feel secure.
Introducing a new Bindi Dolls Scottish or British Shorthair kitten to your dog
Every dog has a different personality, so it is important to consider the breed and temperament of your dog and if your dog has any previous experience with cats.
Introductions should always be a calm and gradual process.
- Keep your dog on a leash during initial introductions.
-Reward calm and gentle behaviour around the kitten.
-Never allow chasing, even if it appears playful.
-Always supervise interactions until you are confident they are safe and comfortable together.
